Lawn Fawn Hippo Birdie To You and Copic

Hey there!

I'm back to share another quick card with you all!

If you've read my blog at all you will know that I'm a huge fan of Lawn Fawn. Especially their Critters! I'm talking, jump up and down and clap my hands like a demented seal kind of fan. My husband "claims" it's embarrassing, but I don't know what he's talking about. Embarrassing is wearing camouflage pants to the grocery store, but that's a story for another time.

Anyway, I've had the Lawn Fawn Hippo Birdie To You (Year 4) Stamp Set for awhile and I've probably stamped it a half dozen times, but I just couldn't get a plan. So, I decided keeping it simple was the way to go.

If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I will have links for you at the end of the post!

To figure out where I wanted to stamp my images, I first die cut a piece of Neenah White Cardstock with 2 of the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Dies. I also used the largest of the 2 dies and die cut a piece of Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Cardstock. The Diagonal Stripes came later and I'll talk about that in a minute.

I stamped my images on the center die cut with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink because I knew I wanted to color these lil cuties with Copic's. This card is going to a little girl so I chose girly colors, but one of the great things about this stamp set is you could totally choose different colors and make it masculine or even gender neutral.

Lately, I've been pretty stingy in the embellishment department and that wasn't any different this time. I added a little bit of Clear Wink of Stella and some Ranger Glossy Accents to the Party Hats and the Balloon and called it good.

Ok, about the SSS Doll Pink Border...When I assembled the card initially, I had left the border plain. I was pretty sure I didn't like it, but had no idea what I wanted. So this morning at about 2 a.m., I woke up (Am I the only one who does this?) and couldn't quit thinking about it. So I got up, went to The Mom Cave and started brainstorming. I use the term brainstorming loosely because at two o'clock in the morning I'm only capable of so much. Anyway, I started digging through a pile o' fun that was sitting on my table and came across my Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripe Stencil. I know I've used this quite a bit lately, but I thought it was perfect. The problem was my card was already put together. The plan I came up with was, cut down a piece of scrap paper to cover up the center of the card and use a Ranger Ink Mini Blending Tool and some Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Ink. It worked! Pretty stinkin smart if I do say so myself. Honestly the trickiest part was keeping the stencil in one spot while I applied the ink, because I didn't use any adhesive to keep it in one place. It's all good though, mission accomplished.

Oh and the SSS Doll Pink Border nd the Center Die Cut are mounted on to the card with Fun Foam and Scotch Mounting Tape so they would stand up off the Card Base.

So that's it peeps. I hope you enjoy!

Until next time!
