Hey folks!
I'm here today to share a card that I've been wanting to do for ages!
So I finally got my paws on the Slumber Party Stamp Set by Simon Says Stamp. I. Love. It. This is from the Hop To It Collection that was released a couple of months ago. It's a good sized image with loads of room to color.
I asked my girls if they if they would have a slumber party so I could make a bunch of these. They both just stood their staring at me like I've officially lost my mind. Sheesh. Apparently they don't do "slumber party's" they just "hang out". Ok....
As usual, if you're interested in any of the products I've used, I will have links for you throughout the post!
This stamp set is great, because no matter what coloring medium you choose, it still works. I chose Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils this time, for two reasons. For starters, I recently went from the 12 Count Tin to the 24 Count Tin and I wanted to try out the new (to me) colors. Secondly, I knew I was going to do some ink blending and I prefer to do that on watercolor paper.
I started by stamping her on a piece of Ranger Distress Watercolor Paper as well as a scrap of Inkadinkado Stamp Mask Paper with Hero Arts Black Ink. I used my MISTI Stamping Tool so I could go over her again with Versamark and Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. You could skip this step, but I wanted her to stand out a lil bit. You could also use the Slumber Party Dies that go with the Stamp Set to really give your card some extra dimension. I then colored her in with the Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils and a Zig Watercolor Brush.
I used one of the Simon Says Stamp Love Labels Dies on a piece of Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock and the I stamped one of the sentiments from the Stamp Set in Versamark Ink and Ranger Silver Embossing Powder. While I had the Cardstock out I trimmed down a strip of it to use when I assembled the card.
I cut out the image I had stamped on the Masking Paper and placed it over the top of the image on the panel. Then, I applied Simon Says Stamp Ink in Soft Navy and Wisteria (LOVELY shade of purple by the way) over the entire panel with a Ranger Ink Mini Blending Tool. Fairly quickly I laid down the Simon Says Stamp Ledger Drop Stencil down and secured it, because I wanted to work with the other two inks while they were still "damp". I used Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink and another Blending Tool and applied it over the Stencil. Since the other inks were still damp, I could work some of those colors into the Pigment Ink so it wasn't so stark in the background.
Since I used Soft Navy Ink on the front of the card, I chose Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy Cardstock for the Card Base to tie it all in. I added some DMC Light Effects Embroidery Floss in Silver and called it a day.
That's it peeps! I don't usually make cards I don't have a purpose for, but she is so fabulous! It would be a dream come true to have this same girl in a party dress or other outfits. She's probably one of my favorite "people" images. Maybe I'll risk embarrassing my children and just make a bunch and send them to their friends anyway. Hmmm... I hope you enjoy!
Until next time!
