Lawn Fawn and Ranger Distress Markers

Hey folks!

I'm back today (finally!!) to share a really quick card I put together while I was away. My family and I had to leave for an emergency work trip and I didn't have the time (nor the space, kids take up an unreal amount of room), so I literally just grabbed what was sitting on my craft table.

I needed to create something that didn't use heat embossing and no die die cutting. However, I take all of my different coloring mediums with me when I travel, so I thought I'd stick to the basics and keep things pretty simple. Honestly, simple is my FAVE, so no big.

The Color My World Stamp Set by Lawn Fawn is so stinkin cute I can't even stand it and I was tickled pink (among other colors) to finally be able to make something with it. Also, I haven't shown my Ranger-Tim Holtz Distress Markers much love lately so I thought this would be a great opportunity to do so.

Masking can be really easy and tape is super duper portable, so I did quite a bit on this card.

As usual, if you're interested in any of the products I've used, I will have links for you throughout the post!

I started by stamping the Crayon a couple of times on a strip of Post-It Labeling Tape with Hero Arts Black Ink, to use as a mask and fussy cut them out. Then, starting with the "R" Crayon, since it would be in the front, I stamped and masked off each Crayon in Hero Arts Black Ink on a piece of Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I masked off each of the Letters and from the sentiment stamp that comes in the set and stamped each one in the center of each Crayon. I masked and stamp "YOU" and "MY WORLD!" as well.

To use as portable palette of sorts, I have taped together a 12x 12 sheet of Grafix Clear Craft Plastic and a 12x12 sheet of Grafix Medium Weight White Chipboard with Scotch Painter's Tape. It's not fancy (at all), but it's a really easy and handy DIY palette. I love that it's easy to pack around when I need to, but the size also gives me lots of room to scribble or mix colors on. The plastic makes it a breeze to clean up too! After I decide what colors to use I scribble them on to my palette and picked them up with a Zig Watercolor Brush as I need to use them.

I wanted fun, happy colors to contrast the Ranger-Tim Holtz Distress Hickory Smoke, I've been dying to use, so I chose, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon. I used the same colors on a scrap piece of Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock for a lil somethin down the edge of the card.

I did manage to take some Simon Says Stamp Smoke Cardstock with me, which is what I used for the Card Base, but I didn't bring any black. Not to be a big deal, because one of my favorite things to do is make my own colored cardstock. I took a strip of Neenah White Cardstock and inked it up with Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Ink. Then I trimmed it down and added it to the card. Easy Peasy.

Clear Wink of Stella is always good for embellishment, so I added a little bit of that to the Crayons and the black strip and called it good.

Also, Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit has been revealed and I am so excited! I admit I'm a stencil junkie and not only does this kit come with one, but it also has a full (yes full!) tube of Dina Wakley White Gesso. Woot! I haven't used this before, but it's been on my wish list, so I'm pretty stinkin stoked. If you haven't yet, go check it out!

That's it! I have to say crafting in an RV with 3 kids wasn't the hardest part. The hardest part was not having access to everything like I'm used to. It's all good though, I love how it turned out. Hope you do to! Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time!
