Clean & Simple Card - A Blog Named Hero Color Palette Challenge + Hero Arts Small Potted Succulent

Hey folks!

It's time for a new A BLOG NAMED HERO challenge! This months theme is Color Palette. In today's video, I'm going to be using the Hero Arts Small Potted Succulent Stamp for my card, but it's a little stamp and we have five colors in this palette. So I'm going to show you how I take all of those colors and combine them to work with even small stamps.

Color palettes are so pretty and so inspiring. They are perfectly coordinated and most even have a picture for reference. Yet some folks still aren't quite sure what to do with them. You could absolutely break it down by each color and use it that way. You could also only the colors you want to use. That's easy enough. However, what happens when you want clean & simple? What happens when you have a single image and it feels lie it can't hold all of those colors, but you want to use all of them?

That's what I'm going to talk about in today's VIDEO folks.

You can watch the video on how I made my cards HEREYou can also click the thumbnail link below.

So I have 5 colors in this palette and the Hero Arts SMALL Potted Succulent is pretty small. There's no way I can showcase each of those colors. So to get around that, I can combine the two browns. That gives me 3 colors left to think about. I can definitely combine the reddish color with the orange. Now I have one color left to think about.

Here's where it gets interesting. I can either leave that color on it's own ooooor I can combine with my other colors. This doesn't always work out with every palette folks, but in this case it's totally doable. So now instead of 5 colors, I now only have 2 color combinations. Perfect.

I stamped the SUCCULENT on Xpress-It BLENDING Card with Hero Arts SOFT GRANITE Ink. I end up fussing cutting this out after I color, so it didn't really matter where I stamped it, however I thought at first I would make this a one layer card.

If you would like to do that, I have some links down below where you can see how to use a STAMPING Tool for stamping a wood mounted stamp.

I really wanted to keep my focus on a clean and simple card so be sure to watch the VIDEO folks to see how I used these colors folks.

To help ground my image a little bit more I used a sentiment from the FENNEC THE FOX Stamp Set from Hero Arts with INTENSE Black Ink.

To give my card some dimension, I popped the SUCCULENT up with some dimensional foam tape and called it good.

That's it!

Be sure to participate in the COLOR PALETTE Challenge folks! We love, love, love to see what you make and there are prizes available. Who doesn't love that?
