Die Cut Cloud Stencils With Inkon3 And Neat & Tangled + Copic Coloring

Hey folks!

In today's video I'm going to show you how I use cloud border dies to make my own cloud stencil for my backgrounds. I'm also going to show you how I color in these darling dragons from Inkon3 and unicorn from Neat & Tangled!

I love being able to stretch the use of my dies. I son't use them as much as most folks so I take great pleasure in being able to find another use for them. One of my favorite uses for them is to make stencils! Cloud Stencils are the best!

You can watch the video on how I made my cards HERE. You can also click on the thumbnail link below.

It's a rare thing that I have the same idea for two stamps sets so I was super stoked to use both the Inkon3 MAGIC DRAGONS Stamp Set aaaand the Neat & Tangled MAGICAL DAY Stamp Set. It was a bigger bonus that the Neat & Tangled FAIRY DUST  Stamp Set worked  so well with both cards too!

I seriously think these dragons from the Inkon3 MAGIC DRAGONS Stamp Set are these cutest things EVER! I may have hyperventilated a little when I first saw it...anywho, I stamped all of my images on Neenah SOLAR WHITE Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp INTENSE Black Ink.

Before I stamped them, I used the stitched rectangle die from the Simon Says Stamp BUNDLE OF STITCHED SHAPES on both panels and I also used my MISTI Stamping Tool so I could get my images nice and dark. Especially the dragon's peepers.

Be sure to check out the VIDEO folks. I show you how I color these darlings in. I also have my color choices listed in the thumbnail links below as well as in the description over on my channel.

Before I started coloring, I knew what color I was going to use for my background. I wanted Tim Holtz Distress Ink in BROKEN CHINA. It's one of my faves for sky backgrounds. It's not too light and it's not too light. It's perfect. So I chose my Copic Colors around that. The MAGICAL DAY Unicorn was easy enough because of the rainbow, but I especially chose the greens in the dragon to match the BROKEN CHINA.

Making your own stencils ares super easy. I show you in the VIDEO what my stencil for these cards look like, but you could do yours differently if you like.

To make my stencils, I cut a 6.25" x 6.25" price of Grafixx PLASTIC, then one at a time, I line up each one of the Lawn Fawn PUFFY CLOUD Border Dies (one on each of 3 sides) and run them through my Spellbinder PLATINUM 6 Die Cutting Machine. I wanted a cloud border on all fours sides so I used one of the Newton's Nook SKY Border Dies on the last side.

If you preferred, you could simply cut strips of acetate and die cut each one individually. They would still work the same way as mine. I have other alternatives listed in the thumbnail links below.

I stamped the FAIRY DUST Stamp with Delicata SILVERY SHIMMER Ink on both panels. I used the Misti for the unicorn, but I used the large Catherine Pooler STAMP BLOCK for the dragons.

I finished off both cards with oodles of Nuvo AQUA SHIMMER, as well as some Sakura STARDUST dots on the dragons for a little but if texture.

That's it!

  1. The unicorn is really cute but those dragons are ADORABLE!!! I've seen them on several cards now and might just have to break down and buy that set. Just like your other cards the shading & coloring is just beautiful! Angela
