Avery Elle Cupcakes + Colored Wink of Stella

Hey folks!

I'm back today to share another set of cards with you. It seems as though I can't help but do cards in multiples lately. I'm either trying to be efficient or I'm having more squirrel moments than what I can keep track of. Either way, I'm game. This is kind of a long post, but hang in there with me!

If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I have links (some affiliate links) throughout and at the end of the post. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

I think there are some stamps that work better for one media or another. Every once in awhile I come across one that you could use just about anything and it would be fabulous.

The Avery Elle Cupcakes Stamp Set, is definitely one of the sets! So, so cute! I used Copic's and Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils on these, but anything would work. With that in mind I wanted to try something new (for me) and do some playing with my colored Wink of Stella's.

Okey dokey. For both of my Copic Colored Cards (above and below) I stamped my images on Neenah White Cardstock with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink. I masked off all of the Cupcake Bottoms with  Post-It Tape and stamped the small images with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.

I kept the shading for the Copic coloring (see links below for color choices) to a minimum, because I used my colored Wink of Stella's for shading instead. Here's the deal with this peeps. On the Yellow Frosting for instance, I used a Yellow Wink of Stella, but I concentrated it in the darkest areas. Then, I would touch the tip of my Clear WOS to the tip of the Yellow and blend it out to the lightest areas. If you cover the entire area or don't "blend" it out, it will cover up all of your Copic coloring or look splotchy. No Bueno.

You could easily just color the whole image in with all colored WOS's, but two things. For starters, it take twice as much WOS, so it could get spendy. Aaand, it actually looks so much better to put down "base colors" and go over the top.

For both of the Copic Colored Cards, I used the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripe Stamp. I stamped scrap of Neenah White Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Black Ink and the front of a Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Cardstock Top Folding Card with it's matching ink.

For the Flower Copic Card, I used the Curved Dies from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills Die Set on the Card Panel as well as a piece of Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock.

For both of my Inktense cards (above and below) I stamped my images on Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and heat embossed them with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Powder.

These two were a little bit trickier because Wink of Stella's are water based, I didn't want to move the color around too much. I went pretty light handed on both. Now you could totally use the WOS to move the colors instead of plain water, but I'll be honest. I didn't think about it until I was done. If you're interested to see how that works, Kristina Werner did a card awhile back where she did just that and it was awesome. You can click here to see it or the link below.

This was the last card that I did. I decided to mix it up a bit an switch the Pink out for some Red. I LOVE turquoise and red together. For both of these cards I used a Stitched Rectangle Die from Simon Says Stamp. My Card Bases were Neenah White Cardstock and Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock.

Since these bad boys were already soo blingy from all of the WOS, I kept the embellies to a minimum. I used Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow Sequins on two of the four and called it a day.

That's it peeps! Up next will be a lil somethin from the Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit. Can. Not. Wait.

In the meantime, I hope you've enjoyed my cards today! Don't forget you can follow me on Instagram  and on Facebook! I would love to see you there.

Until next time!
