Window Card - A Blog Named Hero Summertime Fun Challenge - Hero Arts June 2018 Card Kit

Hey folks!

I'm back today with more inspiration for the Summertime Fun Challenge! In today's video I'm sharing how I make this super quick window card with the HERO ARTS JUNE 2018 MY MONTHLY HERO. These babies sold out fast and I know that not everyone could get their paws on it, but the techniques still apply and I will talk more about some alternatives in a moment.

Before we get to my card...There's still time to play along in this month's challenge folks! As always, there's prizes up for grabs and we loooove to see what you guys make. You can go HERE to for more details and to enter the A Blog Named Hero Summertime Fun Challenge.

Also the HERO ARTS JULY 2018 MY MONTHLY HERO launched yesterday folks. Be sure to get it before it's gone!

You can watch the video on how I made my cards HERE. You can also click on the thumbnail link below.

The idea of stamp layering to create an ocean is BUH-rilliant. I can think of so many things you can do with this stamp set, but I really want to make a window card.

Before I started building my scene, I needed to lightly trace the lines both on the inside and the outside of my card base. This way I could make sure that everything would line up on the finished card.

After I had trimmed the front of the card base for the window, I could start building my scene on the inside. I masked off the edges on the inside to reduce how much space my scene would take up. I talk about this more in the VIDEO.

The kit came with SOFT SKY, SUMMER SKY and DEEP OCEAN so I decide to use those for my ocean. If you don't have this stamp set folks, you use the Hero Arts WAVES Background Stamp. You would start by masking off a section where you would want your waves to go, ink blend SOFT SKY Ink over that entire area, the use the stamp to stamp, SUMMER SKY, shift the stamp, then stamp with DEEP OCEAN.

I can't get to all of my inks right now, so I used Distress Oxide Inks in SPICED MARMALADE, WILD HONEY and SQUEEZED LEMONADE, but you could also use Hero Arts CRIMSON Bold Hybrid Ink with ORANGE SODA and BUTTER BAR Shadow Inks.

Be sure to check out the VIDEO folks, I talk more about how I did this sky and the clouds. For those, I used Hero Arts UNICORN Pigment Ink and SOFT GRANITE Ink.

I couldn't resist using the Sand Embossing Powder. Embossing Powders aren't something I use too often, but this stuff was groovy. I talk more about this in the VIDEO. By the way, I mention that before it's heat set that it has a matte finish, but I think I forgot to mention that once it's heat set it's kind of shiny and metallic. I dig it.

If you don't have embossing powder, you could mask off the ocean and ink bend brown inks instead. SOFT BROWN and CUP O' JOE would be fab!

To finish off my card, I stamped and die cut some images from the stamp set and adhered them to the front of my card with dimensional tape. If you don't have the kit you could use the Hero Arts YOU & ME BY THE SEA Stamp Set instead.

That's it!

Be sure to head over to A BLOG NAMED HERO to participate in the challenge folks. You will also want to see what the rest of the Team has to share! They are amazing!
