Die Cut Masks - A Blog Named Hero - Hero Arts Flowers

Hey folks!

I'm here for the Put A Flower On It Challenge for A Blog Named Hero! In today's video I'm sharing how I use the coordinating dies from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero July 2017 Card Kit as well as some Nesting Infinity Dies to create masks for ink blending, then I will do some super simple Copic Coloring.
You can watch the video on how I made my cards HERE. You can also click on the thumbnail link below.

Now, I gotta be honest folks, I'm on the fence on how I feel about my cards today altogether, but I like each individual technique enough, that I still wanted to share it with you. Hopefully one or more of them will give you some inspiration!

Okey dokey. I started by stamping 2 panels of Neenah SOLAR WHITE Cardstock with stamps from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero JULY 2017 Card Kit. This kit is sold out, but I wanted to use this set for the folks that may have gotten this kit and for those of you that didn't I will have a link to other sets in the thumbnail links below.

You could use any stamp set you like folks. This would work well with sooo many different images. All of my images were stamped in Hero Arts INTENSE BLACK Ink and I used the MISTI Stamping Tool to make sure that all of my stamping was straight.

I die cut some Simon Says Stamp MASKING PAPER with an oval from the Nesting OVAL Infinity Die Set and a rectangle from the Nesting RECTANGLE Infinity Die Set. I talk about this more in the VIDEO, so do be sure to watch that. I share how I get the die lined up perfectly on my stamped panels. I also used the coordinating dies for the flowers and die cut those from masking paper as well.

After I applied all of my masks to my stamped panels, I did some ink blending with a Ranger MINI Blending Tool and SQUEEZED LEMONADE, WILD HONEY and SPICED MARMALADE Distress Oxide Inks.

Since the stamp masks are slightly larger, you will have a white border that goes around the images.

Before I removed the masks I splattered some Hero Arts WHITE Iridescent Shimmer Mist on to both panels.

After I pulled off my masks, I did some really quick and simple Copic Coloring on both panels. I have the colors in the thumbnail links below if you're interested and I also talk about the color and my coloring approach in the VIDEO.

When I pulled off the masks, I tore one of the panels, so I took the next size up in each Infinity Die and cut both panels. You could use the same size as the masks you made, but I didn't want to risk not getting them lined up so I went with the next size up.

I dry embossed two Neenah SOLAR WHITE Panels with my Spellbinders PLATINUM 6 Die Cutting Machine and the Hero Arts BOLD GRAPHIC CONFETTI Die. I used the embossing sandwich for this. This die is definitely one of my faves. If would have had the BUTTERFLY CONFETTI Die, I would have use that on at least one of these panels!

That's it!

Be sure to head over to A BLOG NAMED HERO for more details on the challenge folks. You will also want to see t what the rest of the Team has to share! They are amazing!
