Hey folks!
It feels like it's been ages since I've had a chance to share anything with you guys! I'm still taking care of life, but I had to take some time to share Mother's Day cards!
If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I have links (some affiliate links) throughout and at the end of the post. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.
For my cards, I used the new Wild Beauty Stamp Set by Simon Says Stamp. This was in the My Favorite Release and I gotta say peeps, this really is my favorite release!
I'm a maniac and made 15 of these, so I used my MISTI Stamping Tool to stamp them all. I created masks using Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper, then stamped them all with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed them with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Powder on Ranger Distress Watercolor Paper.
I could have skipped the heat embossing and these would have been super duper easy. I knew that when I started watercoloring that I was going to make it quick and sloppy (ish) so I wanted the heat embossing to minimize some of the mess.
I really struggled with what colors I wanted to do these in. I just simply couldn't decide what I wanted. So I went to an excellent source for inspiration. Shari Carroll for Simon Says Stamp came up with some Distress Color Combos and I love them.
This was a really great way to try a few different combinations. For one set of cards (first pic), I used Distress Recipe #5. Those were: Worn Lipstick, Stormy Sky, Scattered Straw and Shabby Shutters. On another set (second pic) I used Recipe #6. Spun Sugar, Shaded Lilac, Dusty Concord and Peeled Paint. To change it up a bit I used Recipe #7 (below) which is: Victorian Velvet, Crushed Olive, Aged Mahogany and Pumice Stone.
I used some sentiments from the Simon Says Stamp Sketch Ranunculus Stamp Set (what kind of fabulousness is this folks?) which I also heat embossed. I used Versamark Ink with Simon Says Stamp Silver Embossing Powder and Ranger Liquid Platinum.
To keep the area around the sentiment clean, I dies cut a scrap of Acetate with a Circle Die from the Simon Says Stamp Nested Circle Die Set and just placed it over the images. Then I used some of the colors from each Recipe and splattered it over the panels.
I used a TON of Clear Wink of Stella on all of the images and added a few sequins from the Iced Berries Mix by Kennedy Grace Creations and some Sparkling Clear Sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed my cards today and thanks so much for stopping in to see me! I will be back with a post next week. I am so excited, I'll be participating in a Blog Hop with some fabulous ladies! I can't wait!
Until next time!
