Pay It Forward

Hey Folks!

Just a real quick card to share with you all today.

My oldest daughter has been assigned to participate in a Pay It Forward Project for school. It's her plan to anonymously donate a bouquet of flowers to a patient at one of our hospitals. She asked if I would make a card to go with it. Of course! We actually plan on doing two of them. There is this one and then I'll will do a card for the maternity ward as well.

My mom was a nurse when I was growing up. She was also a single mom, so I spent a lot of time hanging out at the hospital while my mom worked. I learned fairly young, that there is almost always a patient that could use a smile or a friendly hello. My daughter plans on going in to the medical field and she also knows the power of a simple gesture to the right person, so I just love that she has chosen this for her project.

As usual, if you're interested in any of the products I have used, I will have thumbnail links for you at the end of the post!

Lawn Fawn makes me smile. It doesn't matter what it is, it just simply makes me smile. Seriously peeps, look at that chick! And the bandaids? O. M. G. These are from the Get Well Soon Stamp Set. I actually colored quite a few of these with Copic's, because I couldn't help myself. I'm thinking there's a shaker card in my future... I used a Wplus9 Border & Backgrounds 2 stamp to stamp a diagonal line on a Bazzill Grapefruit Bliss panel I cut using the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die Set using Lawn Fawndamentals Sunflower Ink. Then, for fun, I went over the lines with my Wink of Stella Pen.

That's it! Easy Peasy!

Until next time!

  1. What a cute card, I love that little set.

I can't afford the flowers but I think I'll make a bunch of cards to send up to the hospital.

My mom passed away last July and before she came with hospice she was in the ICU ward the nurses were wonderful and over worked but it seemed as if so few of the patients had visitors and those visitors that were there for obvious reasons weren't smiling I think they would enjoy a card and a smile - I think I'll make a bunch with notes on the outside for when to open them ;)

Thanks for a great idea and sharing your beautiful card you and your daughter are an inspiration.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I had many opportunities growing up to see my Mom interact with her patients. Small gestures and simple words from her always seem to make the biggest difference for them. I chose not to go into the medical field because it would have always been too personal, but I cherish my upbringing in this respect and I help in other ways. I've taught my girls the same. I love that this is what my daughter wants to do with her life. She will be good at it. We are so happy we can inspire others to do the same!
